Map Window

The map window of CityGuide DMS has the following functions:

  • Display of the section of the source map that contains your present location. (Center of the window)

  • Display of coordinates, map borders and selected objects.

  • Navigation of the map by means of mouse and keyboard

The visible part of this section is only a small area of the entire source map. You may "virtually" move across the map yourself or have the program "guide" you to certain objects. Your current position within the source map is shown as a black rectangle in the overview-window for better orientation.

Depending on your internet connection speed it is possible that a certain amount of time passes until the requested map material has loaded. During this process the message "Loading..." is displayed in the empty parts of the map window.

Overview Window

The overview window of CityGuide DMS has the following functions:

  • Display of the current source map with it's entire area. The section of the map window is indicated as a black rectangle.

  • Display of map borders and chosen objects.

  • Navigation of the map by means of mouse and keyboard.
Leftclick with your mouse on the desired map location. The system will now move or jump to the relating position of the source map.

Object Search

Enter keywords or names into the text field. Afterwards press the [Enter]-key.

A dialogue window will open and present you a list of found objects that respond to your search terms.

Alternatively you may access the search dialogue through the menu item "Objects" or by pressing the [F2]-key.

Object Selection

Object selection is used in the same way as you would browse a directory structure on your hard drive. Descending from the root folder you may enter any subfolder of your choice and access the objects located therein.

The group folder symbols have the following meaning:

You are currently browsing the index.
Move up to a higher directory level.
Move to a lower directory level (enter a subfolder).

By double clicking the icon or by pressing the [Return]-key you will switch to the respective group.

By pressing [Backspace] you will switch back to the higher directory level.

Following the selection of a group you will be presented with it's sub-groups and objects. Note, that the first entry (switch to the higher directory level) will always be displayed.

The object-icons carry the following descriptions:

Normal Object.
Object with additional informationen
Object with email-Address

The following commands are possible:

  • A single click on an object will show it's location on the map- as well as the overview-window.

  • A double click [Enter] on an object will automatically guide you to it's respective position. Setting your preferences will let you decide if you want to move across the map or jump to this location.
Whenever more information or email contacts are available for a certain object, you will also receive a notification by the status LED located on your status bar.

In order to get this information you simply have to press the [F5]-key or or click on the button for object-information.
