Map Selection

CityGuide DMS is capable of incorporating up to 1000 different source maps of variable size. Each source map is accompanied by an overview map as well a symbol explanation (or map legend).

By clicking on the "Maps" entry on the menu bar you can select the desired source map. The title of the currently displayed source map is displayed in the upper left corner of the map window.

Switching to a different Source Map

When switching to a new source map the system always tries to keep your current position. The center of your map window serves as the point of reference. In case this is not possible, e.g. you are at the border of the source map, the program will acquire the position closest to your last location.

Switching to a smaller Scale

When switching for instance from a city's metro-area-map to downtown it can happen that your last position on the area map lies outside of the downtown boundaries. This is simply caused by the downtown map spanning a smaller area than the metro-area-map.

In this case the system shows you the downtown map borders in the overview- as well as the map-window.

Move your position into the area indicated by the red boundary box and select the downtown source map once again.

Invoke Symbol Explanation

Within CityGuide DMS every source map has it's own symbol explanation or map legend. By pressing [F8] you can display this information in a new window.
